My name is Tom Maggs and I am a Golf Professional at Long Ashton Golf Club, Bristol
My Early Experiences of Golf
I started my golf at Farrington Park from the age of 7 and during that period as a junior I represented my club, Somerset Golf Union, and was selected for the England South West Regional Training Squad.
In 2014 I turned Professional and moved to Wells Golf Club, Somerset to start my Professional Golfers Association Foundation Degree. After spending Four years at Wells Golf Club I moved to Long Ashton Golf Club in October 2018 with Head Professional Jack Heginbotham. During this period I was fortunate enough to have support and guidance from some of the UK's top golf coaches.
Golf Coaching
Once qualified in early 2017 I spent several years developing my coaching knowledge by undertaking training courses to maximise my coaching business. Alongside my coaching skills I also enjoy custom fitting. Over the years i have attended courses with major golfing brands Ping, Callaway & Titleist learning in depth information about their products. This has helped extend my product knowledge and enhance your custom fitting experience.
Every golf professional has a coaching method to help player reach their goal. My coaching style is simple, constructive and reflective. I will use a coaching method which suits you, whether its simple training drills, using specific training aids, studying video analysis or using quantitative data from a launch monitor. I will make the coaching method bespoke to YOU.
TESTIMONIALS
'I took the opportunity of signing up to a Seniors Group and “MOT” sessions with Tom. On both sessions I was hugely impressed by his attention detail and post notes detailing key areas for improvement. I gained greatly from these sessions and it gave me the confidence in using Tom for further targeted lessons. I have completed a four lesson package, which I have found immensely beneficial as they have improved all aspects of my game. I like the way Tom blends practical training techniques and technology to record and play back the good and, more importantly, the bad aspects of ones swing. The visualisation and his specialist comments, enhanced by supporting emails, have been key to improving my game. In conclusion, I find Tom an extremely affable and accomplished golf professional who also shows interest post sessions to check your on track! I would certainly recommend Tom to other golfing colleagues.'

Tom's lessons are excellent. He demonstrates the shots extremely well, keeps it simple with plenty of encouragement and tips, followed up with an email with notes on the lesson which are very handy go-to reminders.
My confidence in playing the shots has grown as a result of Tom’s teaching and it has certainly improved my short game.
Tom has a very pleasant and enthusiastic manner. His interest and enthusiasm is not just restricted to the lesson - he always enquires how my game and if I need any help when I see him in the Pro Shop or around the Club.

Having had both group and individual lessons with Tom I can definitely recommend him as a golf coach. His lessons are well geared to the ability of the golfer and his instructions are clear and easy to follow. Nothing is over complicated but you always leave the lesson feeling more positive that progress is being made. He is quick to spot what an individual is doing wrong and is able to remedy this and suggest useful practice routines. The follow up notes are thorough and constructive and provide a very useful reminder of the points covered in the lesson.
